3/25/13

AHHH we leave in 2 days and less hours than I can think about.  2 school days for the kids and thats all they really care about.  Packing, packing, packing, my procrastination has kicked in as I type ignoring all that I have to do.

What to bring, what to wear.  Its hot thats all I know.  Our plans for moving are speeding up with lots of list to make and things to take care of.    Realtor comes on Tuesday before we leave to review the house.  Trying to get it on the market by May 1.  We don't have tons to do just cleaning out closets and decluttering.  Moving as many times as we have means we don't have to much stuff but still its amazing how much you can accumulate after living in a house for 2 and a half years.

So we bought new luggage.  I never figured picking out new luggage would be so tough.  Who knew I was the kind of girl that always wanted matching luggage.  What is it about matching luggage that makes me feel somehow important.  I mean for godsake its just luggage but it is just something that I guess my mom instilled in me at an early age that matching luggage will make you feel good :), until the first time you travel with it and they throw it around like an NFL football.  After the first trip you realize we shouldn't have spent the mega bucks but then again it did arrive in one piece so I guess that is important and you tend to ignore the large black grease stain , the rips and a wheel missing.

When you move as far away as Thailand with 6 people do you realize how much luggage you need.  Geez it is riduculous.  I should have taken a savings plan out just for that purchase years ago.  :)

Shots, anyone who knows me know I hate shots.  No not the kind that follows with lime and salt I mean actually shots in the arm or other places if you are so lucky that day.  Well whenever we have moved internationally a small panic rises inside of me knowing that I am going to have injected into my body some strange chemical that is not going to make me want to dance on barstools.  Today it was my kids turn.  Poor things, so far 3 kids and 4 shots and 2 having blood drawn to find their blood type.  I kind of feel like we are getting ready for the Hunger Games.  After guilt set in I took Erin for an outfit, see it is familiar to the HG's, and Andrew got a milkshake.  Ryan got his on another day and he got nothing since his was for the sake of going to college and better have him understand what the difference is between shots now!  Jack's day will come soon.  My day has been put off until June.  Yipee!  Gotta love procrastination.

2/24/13 The Beginning

Our marriage vows should have read something like this: to have and to hold, for better or worse, in sickness and health, and for moving to here and there........ The vow should have included a moving and relocation company too, sometimes they learn more about me than I want them too!!

Who knew Walter and I would move 8 times in almost 19 years.  I tell people all the time that this life is not for everyone but it works for us.  We have lived in Pennsylvania, Texas, Georgia, Mexico, Michigan and soon Thailand.

Ryan, Erin, Andrew, and Jack have adapted well.  I truely believe that they are well rounded awesome kids that are extremely confident and out spoken, well the out spoken part I fault Walter.  Lord knows I have never been out spoken aobut anything in my life.  ;)

So our 8th move is about to take place and this time we are off to Thailand.

For Mattawan's spring break the 6 of us are traveling to Thailand for a school search and house hunt.  I have to remind myself that this is not a vacation.  The swim up bar at the hotel is not part of the relocation accomodations.  I don't think the Big K is going to foot my bar bill.  Who am I kidding we are going to try our best to also make this a vacation.  When have we ever passed on fun.

This blog is not to boast about my life or tell how wonderful my kids are.  It is just to share this amazing opportunity that we have been given.  I love feedback or comments.  Please though don't judge my writing skills, I should have paid more attention in english 101.  I just want to share the good, bad, and the UGLY.  It will give you a look into our journey relocating to Thailand.
